innocence

Returning to the enlightened state of being, one becomes, once again, innocent. This innocence is the innocence of a newborn baby. It is the innocence of one who behaves in a spontaneous, natural way; not with complicated motives; not with any motives at all. To respond to the moment, without a motive, is to be innocent.

We have all known this innocence; certainly when we were new in the world, but hopefully you have also felt this innocence in more recent times: moments when you have been relaxed, playful, not wanting things, not needing to prove yourself, just playing, happy, without effort, without struggle, not needing to be loved, not needing to gain money or fame or power, just enjoying the moment and playing with existence, as part of existence. And this innocence comes as a release from the tension that is created when we have a goal in mind, when we want to get something. That desire to get something takes us away form our natural being and we lose this feeling of innocence.

So forget about the future, for a moment at least, and living in this moment you will see, you will feel, there is nothing lacking. And then you are free to play in the moment, without regard for profit or loss. And with that playfulness will come your innocence. And you will feel it as something returning, something that has been in you all along and that you had lost sight of, lost contact with. And yet, you are innocent.

Feel your innocence once again.
